Symposium Theme

Union of Universities of Trakya was established in 2012, in order to provide collaboration among scholars and administrators.  The Union works with five prestigious universities, which are located in the same area, for making a contribution to education, research-development, and regional development; improve the collaboration among public institutions, universities, and industrial enterprise; also enhance the integration between universities and the cities.

The main purposes of this union are

• contributing to not only regional but also national development
• enabling the contribution of universities to regions in which they located
• establishing the distance learning courses, master and doctoral programs, research laboratory among the member universities of the union
• organising social, cultural, and sportive activities

Within this context, Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University will host and organize to an international symposium on 21-23 November 2019. Its main theme is ‘the Role of the Universities in Regional Development.’ Nowadays, the universities do not only certain to education and research but also assume a significant role to support regional development thanks to their studies which analyse their regions and the contributions to cities where they were established. Thus it can be said that they are one of the most important actors when it comes to regional and national development.

The symposium named ‘the Role of the Universities in Regional Development’ will be organised by the Union of Universities of Trakya between 21-23 November 2019 in Bandırma.
